I am replacing the pair of 667 1GB modules with two 2GB modules. Which of these is better suited for my Vostro 1400 laptop with T8100:

    2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 CL=6
    2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 CL=5

Price is the same - $28 ea from Crucial (seems like a good deal).

    No OC.

    I would assume the 800?

    Thanks!

    Whichever. It doesn't really matter.

FYI, Cas Latency won't affect performance (in a noticeable way).

And also, the PC2-6400 will downclock to PC2-5300. That's the max your laptop supports....

Whichever you choose, you will not go wrong. By the way, you have found them with excellent prices.

I'd go with the 800 only as a slight hedge against obsolescence.

At least you will gain 1ms in terms of RAM response time if you get the PC5300 SODIMMS. Now that's hardcore performance right there.

Same as with the 800, they'll use cl5 too at 667Mhz, so it will not matter which he choses!
