Between these two :
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1 GHz, FSB 800, Cache 3 MB)
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7300 (2.0 GHz, FSB 800, Cache 4 MB)
is the difference much?
i am confused in getting
vaio cr35g with T8100 penryn, X2300 or
HP dv2700 with T7300, 8400 G
but since my question boils down to power difference in CPU, i think i need to post it here. (GPU not very important).. i need strong CPU.
so, is the difference very significant?
as the T8100 is the new penryn and stuff
any help would be appreciated![]()

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Go with T8100,its a newer technology and needs less power and dissipates less heat.

The performance difference is minimal, so get which ever one is cheaper
Keep in mind that the T8100 has a new architecture and processing size, so it will use less power, and thus run cooler.

yep, T8100 definitely

would the extra meg of l2 cache make any difference?

This is where I had a question when buying my Vostro. I currently have a DV9700T with a T9300 (2.5 GHz and 6MB L2 Cache). I have the T8100 in my Vostro that just arrived today.
I was told if I had the two side by side I might notice a difference and as far as the L2 Cache, that it wouldn't be a huge difference there either.
I opted for the T8100 and so far, I can't tell a difference between the T9300 on my DV9700T and my T8100 at all. The price jump between the T9300 and the T8100 was $300 on Dell's site. I paid $125 on HP's site for the difference in processors so I just couldn't justify a $300 price difference.
I had a T7500 in my first HP DV9700T in Dec. (the one I have now is a replacement) and I couldn't tell a difference between that and any of the processors I've mentioned here.
Hope this helps! -

+1 for the 8100. The difference in L2 cache won't matter enough to not go for the Penryn.
