I know there are at least 5 T8300's on eBay for sale, and to me, apart from having 3MB of L2 cache, (Lenovo claims they had 6), and a slightly lower clock speed, they really aren't much different than the T9300's, and over 100 bucks Canadian, cheaper. They're 45nm too, which is the only real reason i want to upgrade my T7700 to a T9300/T8300, heat is less, i don't care about performance since they still perform about the same as a T7700 except they have a couple new instructions, which apart from optimized CPU tests, at best have marginal performance impact. However i do not know cache usage very well for dual core CPU's, it's never really concerned me much, will 3MB's of L2 cache instead of 4 or 6 affect performance for gaming in any way? I can't see why it would.

Yeah, I also want to know about L2 cache differences..
But if it's my money, I'd go for T8300 for $100 less
and maybe upgrade to ssd later -
I recommend the T9300, supposedly the T8300 is the best bang for the buck.
My T8100 performs ok, but nothing impressive, I'm looking to upgrade it to a 9300/9500 -
That'll have more noticable difference to your machine instead of changing to T9300 -
I have a T8300 in my inspiron 1525 and it hasn't let me down yet nor has it been a bottleneck in any task I've done on this laptop. It's a great processor.
+1 for throwing the money at an SSD. In your case I'd get the 80GB intel X-25M G2. Optical bay for a traditional HDD. -

i have noticed just now on ebay that the price of T9300 and T9500 are pretty much in the same area. so for a tad bit more money you get more imo , now just have to decide on the 93 or 95 ...lol

Some people on here should read my post a bit more carefully, i did say i only would upgrade to a T8300/T9300 because it is 45nm, and my T7700 is 65nm, no performance upgrade is needed in the CPU area for me, if i could get a Q9000 in, maybe i'd be concerned about performance then, but i only want a T8300/T9300 because it's "smaller".

That's why I said T8300 since it's cheaper.
Save $100 and you can use the money for SSD, (if you want to) -
if your just looking to go the 45nm route get 8300 and save the cash. i have ran both chips in my msi and if you dont have OC ability on your lappy like most the 100mhz difference will be negligible. I dont think you will notice the 3mb cache unless benchmarking... if you are looking for a chip that will OC well... for some reason the t9300 is a beast compared to the t8300... i maxed out at 2.75ghz on the t8300 whereas my current t9300 has gone past 3.3ghz

or Asus ... someone managed to OC as P8700 in G51 from 2.53 GHz to 3.1GHz....
T8300's on eBay, 45nm, almost everything T9300's have, why so cheap?
