I have a P-6831FX with Win7 Ultimate 64bit. I would like to upgrade the CPU to a T9300 and I have found eBay to be the cheapest place to buy one. My question is I have never used eBay before and I was wandering who the best sellers are, is it ok to buy from stores in China, and if it doesn't work am I S.O.L. or can I return it? If anyone could point me to either a legitimate store that is selling them for around $200 or a trusted eBay seller that would be very helpful.

    Thank You

From my experience, I wouldn't buy anything from China over eBay again. Obviously, it depends on the seller, but I've had too many bad experiences to do it again.

If they have 100% positive rating and quite a lot of ratings, then that would be preferable.

I remember searching for this subject and finding a thread on here that had some recommended ebay sellers. Most people seemed to have no problems with the China sellers will high ratings.

There is also someone on these forums selling a T9500 for ridiculously cheap, not sure how trustworthy they are though.

While that is a great deal and you probably are an honest person, I'd prefer to buy from a legitamate store/dealer and don't mind paying a little more for the piece of mind.

No problem. Good luck with your purchase, you are going to love not being on the stock CPU.

Just look around on ebay and look for sellers with good feedback. Most of the people on there are legitimately trying to sell their things and sometimes you, the buyer, can get a good deal.

I picked up a T9600 from a seller that seemed to sell a lot of processors from him feedback for $210 and its running like a champ.

I also got a brand new sealed Kingston SNV425 128gb ssd for 180 shipped while it retails for around 250.

Just avoid engineering samples - they have a processor number that's 4 characters long and starts with a Q.
They aren't legit retail or OEM CPUs, and might not be fully stable.

If you dont mind getting a P8700, which is very similar to the T9300 the seller that I bought my T9600 from has one for sale for $150.

He answered all my questions quickly and my T9600 arrived in about 2 days. I even talked my proc down from 230 to 200 so you might be able to talk him down for the P8700.

A p8700 will not work with the p-6831 fx.

All 1066 MHz fsb CPUs are incompatible with the santa rosa chipset I think.

Thanks for the link. I am going to cruise eBay and other sites for a couple days to see if I can find a better deal as I am in no rush to get it. But I am most likely to get it from there if nothing better comes along.

That is correct, it only supports up to 800 FSB.
