I have my CPU OCed to 2.812 through set fsb. When I ran Orthos it showed core 0 maxing at 65c and core 1 maxing at 63c. When I ran 3dmark06 it showed core 0 at 67c and core 1 at 59c. I'm using CPUID to monitor.
Is it normal to have such a large temp difference between the 2 cores?

Run it again just to confirm.Since orthos doesn't show much difference,I think it's okay as it's more dual processor centric compared to 3D Mark.

Yes this is completely normal. The thing is that the thermal diode on intel cpu's are on the right side of each cpu core. This means that if you look at the processor from the top view, you have the corner, core 0, diode, core 1 than diode for core 1 and then the other end of the chip.
The thing is the thermal diode for core 0 is between both of the cores of the processor, so the diode is reading the temperatures from core 0 and a little from core 1, so it is indeed always picked up as a higher value.
DO not worry about the thermal discrepencies.
You have a nice cpu and pretty nice OC.

Yes, flipfire is correct, if you check the usage levels,one of them sometimes is used more, or is already a tad hotter before.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I won't worry about it. Core 0 is consistently a few degrees hotter than core 1 but the margin on the 3dmark concerned me a little.
