T9500 is 800mhz FSB
Can I drop in a T9400 that runs at 1066 will it downclock to 800?

I think it depends on the chipset you have.
If you have a PM965 chipset, the FSB will downclock to 800mhz (if the BIOS supports the CPU).
If you have a newer chipset, then it should be fine @1066.
now to the question of T9400 vs T9500,
T9400 @ 3.57ghz:

If overclocking then T9500 is the way to go. -
T9400 will not work on PM965, T9500 will work on PM45.

Intel will not allow that to happen. Tried before T9400 in M570RU (Pm965) no boot. If put T9500 in PM45 then FSB is 800, not 1066.

Because I recall seeing a forum member post that they got a 1066mhz FSB CPU working with the FSB @ 800mhz in PM965. -

Maybe. I also see several other people tried in different NBs, all no boot. I think most of the NB manufactur wouldn´t like to make a supported BIOS...
