I just reformatted and I noticed that my T9600 is underclocked at 2.66ghz for some reason. The multiplier is meant to go up to 10.5x but it only goes up to 10x. CPU-Z and CPUID both report the same results.

    Anyone know what's going on?

Nice laptop, lol. Is that the case under full load as well?

^^ Yeah, I'm running Orthos. It's under full load and only goes up to 10x rather than 10.5x ...it's as if the 10.5x multiplier is disabled

    From CPU-Z, Latest is 1.57,,

CPU-Z reports my CPU running below its clock specification or the clock speed is varying.

This is the effect of the CPU power reduction mechanism : C1E (Enhanced Halt State) and/or EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) for Intel CPUs, Cool'n'Quiet and or PowerNow! for AMD CPUs. Load your system and you will see the frequency increase to its nominal value.

    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

I noticed the same thing when I ran CPU-Z,,however, my processor would go to it highest rating on load sometimes, I also had all Windows 7 updates installed and all chipset drivers updated as well.Windows 7 has power management in it for processors. Download a windows 7 gadget for CPUS and see if this reports maxmium clock speed under load, mine does it has 4 discrete steps and cycles thru these up and down based on loads, the multiplier varies. I'm not running a Intel T9600 though. My max multipler is 13. I run Windows 7 Retail Box Grade op sys too.

    Cheers

    Possible power management quirk?
Make sure it is set to 100% maximum cpu speed.

Hmm, not sure what happened. I was fiddling round with power4gear hybrid and then got a BSoD. Rebooted and everything seems fine. Multiplier is at 10.5x now..
