Very simple question here, not intended to create a 3 page discussion:

If I have a laptop with a RICOH firewire chipset (i.e. ASUS X59SR-Whatever) and I plug a Belkin Firewire ExpressCard into the slot -

Will I now have TI Chipset FW quality, or will I still have RICOH quality FW?

IF THIS WILL NOT WORK: What laptops currently use TI firewire chipsets? I have determined that the following do not:
    DELL
    ASUS
    HP

I am attempting to have a laptop DAW.

    Thanks

    another DAW thread I see.

    look towards:
    - Clevo high-end notebooks (Clevo Guide)
    - Lenovo Thinkpad
    - Apple MacBook Pro

My 3 year old Clevo D900K has a TI chipset for my firewire M-Audio FW-1814 sound card... works great. :)

Please see the first question in the post as well: RICOH chipset + TI Firewire Express card = RICOH quality or TI Quality?
