    TRIM and GC don't seem to work on my Sandforce SSD - how can I get performance back?

    HDDErase = SE.

    Basically, you boot into an OS that can issue the Secure Erase ATA command to the device. If you have a desktop setup that has proper SATA support, SE is not too difficult. But I still consider it to be not something that should be done by any end user.

    This is a design flaw of Sandforce IMO. TRIM can give it enough information to restore the speed, they just choose not to in the name of so called DuraWrite. Basically they are selling you a Farrari but only allows you to enjoy it for 20 minutes a day.

    Hmmm... that's too bad.

    I wish that I was able to enjoy it for 20 minutes a day - the last time this drive felt 'great' is becoming a fastly fading memory.

    I may try this when I have another drive to put into the system in the meantime.

    That is something I don't quite understand. While its GC can never restore to the factory performance once it is being heavily hammered in a short period of time, a few days of light usage plus over night idle is reported to be able to restore to about 70-80% of the speed(this is what I saw on Corsair and OCZ support forum). That is of course assume you have enough free space.

    Well, should 38GB free out of 93 total be enough?
