    hi all

i have a hp compaq nx9030, that i want to connect to the tv.
i got me te cable, a s video (laptop)/scart (tv), plug it, and follow instructions in the manual, but at one moment, i have to select 'display' tab (after several tabs), that is not.
from there, I dont know what to do, i dont know how to go on, i tried every single tab but there's no 'red button next to TV', as instructions say.

    TV is on of course.

it looks that it's not posible to connect, though the notebook has the s video out jack, and the instructions say it is posible!
    any help please??

did you try Fn+F8/F6. this is used in most laptops to connect to an external display

no ,the s video out can only support SDTV resolution (480i or 576i). they can never equal the throughput of the analogue Dsub or the digital DVI connectors.
moreover non HD TVs support only upto DVD quality (720x480). this is never near to the std monitor resolution of 1024x768. also TVs have interlaced scanning than progressive scanning. this also brings down quality of image
