I was curious because I remember when I was able to use it it had a D: drive/section that was labeled Data that had like 60gb I could use. Is that its own harddrive or with my laptop messed up is that now lost?

Also, I was wondering. I took out a WD Scorpio from inside of it that is labeled at the middle ATA Hard Drive so this is probably the hard-drive used for the computer that had another 60gb or is this maybe the Data drive I had?

Also, I have this little thing called 1GB 2Rx8 in my laptop made my Samsung, I have 2 of these. What is it? And is there anything else in my laptop worth trying to save other than my dvd drive for my other computer?

    Okay,
the data is stored on a harddrive, it looks like this:
    http://www.laptoprepair101.com/wp-images/external-laptop-harddrive-2.jpg
The WD scorpio is the harddrive, which all of your data is saved on.

The 1GB 2Rx8 is the memory which your system uses
    It looks like this:

You should keep the optical drive, the memory, and the harddrive.

You should also save the screen if that works, it can be sold for $$$

You should look for the processor, since that may be worth something
It will be located under a metal block, which is known as a heatsink.

    It looks something like this:

Then when you remove them, you can either save them, or post their specs in the buy and sell section, and maybe you can get some money for them.

It depends, not really sure what you mean by your laptop is messed up?

You have only 1 physical drive inside the laptop. The D:\ is a partition inside that physical drive (as is C:\). Think of your hard drive as one big file cabinet, and inside that file cabinet, you have two file folders (C:\ and D:\) that hold info.

    That is your RAM.

Again, it depends on what you mean by save for your other computer, and how bad your laptop is "messed up".

If you can clarify on how bad your laptop is messed up, you will get more info on possibly resurrecting it (if possible) or what is salvageable.

    Welcome to the forums.

Yeah the bus company I used to get home the other day slammed my bag down inside of the compartment below. Some shampoo exploded and got inside of the laptop and ruined the screen and the system board. I'm pretty sure the harddrive is still good though because like... the computer can turn on and go into the users but the problem is sometimes it shuts itself down... which sucks.

From what you describe, it just sounds like the harddrive and the screen are the problems.
The harddrive probably got a little banged up from the drop, which is causing your system to randomly reboot.

This can be fixed with a new harddrive.
Unfortunately if your screen is busted, this is going to be expensive, so you are better off selling the individual pieces and buying a new laptop.

You should have the guy who broke your laptop pay for what he did.

Well it was making some beeps when I tried turning it on... then I pulled the hard drive out and the computer would still reboot itself and shut itself off so I'm not too sure it's the harddrive... it could be. I want to try and see if I can save the stuff on my harddrive though because I used my laptop mostly for vacations... taking pics of my family, friends, and various movies were stored on there since I hate risking the use of my dvds. I had my laptop wrapped in some clothes while it was off but the shampoo exploded due to the suitcase being slammed down. I originally wasn't supposed to have been taking the bus home, had I known I would have brought the case for my laptop since they don't like us using them on the bus. But yeah... shampoo all down the fan in back and I just pulled the heatsink out and there was shampoo all over the processor...

Okay, you will need one of these adaptors.
Your system uses a SATA harddrive, so you need a SATA to USB adaptor.
They are pretty cheap, and will allow you to get the files onto another computer.

I have this adaptor, and I highly recommend it, it is very good and cheap

All you have to do is plug your notebook harddrive into the adaptor, and simply plug the usb cable into a desktop or another laptop.
This way you can transfer all of your files off of your laptop harddrive.
