Greetings: I have a Tangent laptop model 7000 (N38W3). Tangent is a clone of something else, maybe an Acer 7000??
I need to repair/replace the d.c. input jack. I cannot disassemble the top part of the case from the bottom. I have removed all the screws, cd drive, battery, etc. I can pry it open from the bottom, but near the center of the unit there is something else holding it that won't allow the halves to separate. I have removed all the keys from that area thinking there may be a screw under the keypad. There is nothing there or under any of the stickers on the bottom.
I have asked Tangents online tech support, but they don't respond.
Any ideas out there?

Usually, you have to remove all of the screws. Sometimes, there is a bezel above the keyboard, which can be removed. Once removed, you can remove the keyboard, and then find out what is holding the system together.
Sometimes you have to remove the screen to get the laptop apart. Usually just two screws on the back of the laptop.

Sounds like there is a screw under the keyboard. There usually are.

No bezel above the keyboard and no screws under it. ???????
Any other suggestions out there? -
i have an acer 7000 series which i am also trying to fix the power jack.
removed all the screws i managed to detatch the strip at the top and also managed to detatch the top cover from the half so there is a clear gap all the way through. however i cannot get it off as there are wires connected from it to the board which obviously i dont want to snap.
eg. keyboard connection and touchpad connection which i cant reach to remove easily.
Any ideas?
had a play around trying to get the keyboard off but it seems to be attatched to the entire panel and didnt wanna force it.
