this morning when i started up my laptop i was sent to the disk checking feature they have in WIN XP. There the scanning of my hard disk started and at step 2 of 3 it said "Deleting an index entry from index $0 of file 25" and it just stopped there for 1 hour and than it went to windows saying C: is corrupt.

Now it does this each time i turn on my laptop and when i am in Windows like now i get a yellow icon error msg down to the right of the screen saying C: is corrupt and uanble to read please run disk check.

The problem is that i cannot run disk check beecause it stops at this file each time and after 1 hour it skips to Windows saying C: is corrupt. The funny thing is that this happen to me before, about 3 months ago but i dont remember what i did to fix it.

I also tried to back up to a older saving point but that does not help me anything. Do you guys have any tip what i should do here?

Time to format if there is no hardware failure.

If you have a Windows XP install disc run a repair installation: (thanks flipfire for posting earlier. ;) )

It is not normal for this to happen everytime you boot. You should make sure that when you turn off your laptop you are powering down properly via "Shut Down".

It also wouldn't hurt to check to make sure there isn't a defect in the hard drive. You can check it with the Hard Disc Diagnostic Tools on the Ultimate Boot CD:

Boot from your XP disc, run the Recovery Console and run CHDSK to check for and fix filesystem errors.
