    Greetings All...

I signed up with Voodoo's Team Andrax on the WorldCommunityGrid.
I use the BOINC client, and I have my system criunching numbers using 100% cpu power.

My system runs for like 10 hours on end, with my Opteron 185 running from 55-59C with the fans on full. My CPU never reaches over 60C even under full load for hours.

My Opteron 185 in my laptop consumes 110 watts, and I was wondering if this is a safe temperature to run my system at for hours on end.

My 2 Hitachi 7K200's in Raid vary between 104 and 125F when crunching.
My Quadro FX2500M runs at a stable 38-42C.

Are these temperature low enough so that I dont have to worry about my computer getting to hot. I mean 60C or 140F is kindof hot.

Looks like you have quiet the system     But you do not want to ruin it so I suggest that you do not put it through heat trials like that days on in. Remember notebooks are in confined spaces and heat stays closer inside while on a desktop it is spread around.

Most modern processors can withstand significantly higher heats, believe it or not, though they certainly make me nervous, too. With the Opteron, you are within about 10 degrees Celsius of its maximum operating temperature (69-70 C), so you might want to ramp down your stress on the system just a bit, because 60 C right now could easily shoot past the safe mark if, perish the thought, your cooling ever failed.

I thought Opterons were good for 100C.

I guess I will only let it run at like 50-75% cpu, so that it stays below 50C.

I may have pulled up an old temperature list, but that's what I found with Google. I've let my memory of AMD's temperature charts kind of go to seed over the past couple of Intel-dominated years.

Yeah, good call. While I think the temperatures are definitely in a safe range, I wouldn't leave a notebook on under heavy load for extended periods of time... just because it's a notebook.
