No, but you would not get the 12X performance.
that would be undervolting + underclocking

Yes it does... no way around it so far. It will just downclock by like 100mhz

It will downclock and reduce the performance..

    multiplier x FSB = clockspeed

    eg:
    12 x 200mhz = 2.4ghz
    11 x 200mhz = 2.2ghz

A question. In the guide it does not say anything about the enhanced power states (the two C4E states). By default they are ticked, but in the guide they are not ticked (I have attached an image showing this). Should these be ticked or not?

Mine are selected and I have had no problems.

These will be the lowest power states and the new CPUs should support them best.

    Hi.

yes 8.5 is the max, but RMCLOCK only supports 8.0 so you only get 2.1ghz instead of 2.24.

Just hope they release a new version soon!

    Regards

    John.

    i tried to undervolt..
strange thing is that the undervolt will not be recognised until i manually go to the vista current power plan and change the scheme from Balanced to RMClock Power Management

this is irritating since whenever vista boot up, it will by default select Balanced and not RMClock, and the settings saved for RMClock will be deleted when i reboot computer...

Is there anyway to solve it?

I have ticked "Start minimized to system Tray" and "Run at Windows Startup" and is "via startup registry key". Should I set it to "via startup folder"?
Or is it in vista that I should do something?

So I have another problem. When running RMclock (performance on demand) after doing the undervolting exactly as in the guide (which works fine in the stress tests) then sometimes the VID jumps up into voltages that are in the old ranges and way higher than my 9x (highest) multiplier voltage. I attached a couple of images. Notice that current in cpu info says 1.1375 even though my max is 1.0375. Why is that? When I did stress test it stayed at 1.0375, but when running the computer normally then it jumps up and down and sometimes even to 1.20V. I do not understand this

1.20V may be IDA (Intel Dynamic Acceleration - one core can overclock at higher voltage when the other is idle) briefly in action.

I always look at the trend on the monitoring page and don't get stuck in the detail. RMClock doesn't officially support the hardware - V2.35 was the final release with Santa Rosa support debugged.

Hey just a quick Q. I undervolted my 6864fx and when it idles around 30C the fan is really loud.. sometimes it will quiet down like its slowing down for a few seconds and then start back up again. Is there a way to make the fan sound quieter? ive already cleaned out the fans for dust etc. THANKS

will half multi's ever be supported? kinda feel like my t9300 was a bad choice now.

only just getting to grips with this, but so far it looks like 0.9500V is stable across the board on mine, but can't test the 12.5 multi to see if 2.5ghz is stable.

i run my T9300 undervolted and it still maintains its 12.5x multi. there is a workaround in RMclock that you have to use. on the advanced cpu settings page, uncheck the box that says 'Engage Intel Dynamic Acceleration' and apply. then go to the profile pages. make sure that the box that says IDA is checked. it will force RMclock to run the T9300 at its 12.5x multi.

only thing i've noticed with this workaround, is that every time you restart, you have to uncheck the 'Engage IDA' box and re-apply.

when i do this tweak, the voltage settings disappear on the "performance on demand" page, only "use P=state transitions remain .

So what does this do? because once i did this i can't complete Orthos for longer than a minute and i crash, but without this it runs perfectly fine.

*EDIT* actually it doesn't crash, it just slows done to a crawl if i then visit the "performance on demand" page while in orthos :S

Anyhow, aside from this, how exactly should i check to see how fast the cpu is running (essentially to see 2.5ghx and the 12.5 multi actually working). I'm looking in cpu-z and it's still showing 2.4ghz

Hm, i am very glad i finally read this thread :)

T5600 @ 1.25v with 83-85C load. Going down to 1.063v (lowest possible 0.950v set in RMclock), same voltage as the 6x multi..

Anyways, full load is only ~66C now :D ****ing great! And my powerconsumption (meassured with a nice powermeter), 68W fullload to 57W fulload.

So, i decreased the temps by 20Celsius, decreased powerconsumption with 11W and probably got a much longer batterytime.

I can't understand how i missed this thread.

rightmark is acting real buggy for me all of a sudden. It keeps wanting to crash :(

*EDIT* it's now working. Seems my custom DPI in Vista made one of the pages crash for me in RM.

I did get it working in the end by luck though, but at 2.5ghz i can't keep 0.9500V :(

I apologize if this has been asked before, I tried a search and came up with nothing.
In 64 Bit versions of both windows vista and windows server 2008, I am unable to get Enhanced C4, and Enhanced C3 in the advanced tabs to "stick".
I check them, but if i press refresh at the bottom of that page, or restart RMCLOCK, the will be unchecked. Both options work in 32 bit Vista Home Premium.

has anyone else running a 64bit os encountered this issue?

    My CPU is Intel T9300.

    there are my results.
lowerd my VID from 1.0250 to 0.9375

    and it's stable :D

Is this a good result or not??

edit: got it stable for 2:30 hours on 0.9735 and no BSOD nothing going 1 step lower having all voltage's on 0.9250...

What does this affect in performance??

As long as it`s stable, no , it won`t.
I would tick also the SuperLFM, and chance my lowest multiplier to 6x. That would make the CPU run at 600 Mhz on idle. Better battery life, less heat etc.

I have no idea how a processor works so I'm just wondering, if you made your processor idle at a lower speed than normal, is there a chance that it would shorten its lifespan, say from constant accelerating and decelerating?

Well, it does affect the IDLE speed of the proc, but not the active speed. If you are having issues with apps hanging, then it may be a voltage stability issue. I actually use SuperLFM to max (10x) with ODCM throttling (for battery only) and have reduced my power consumption by about 15% (from 1.175v to 1.025v) and it is stable at all P-states (lowest is 0.950v)

I don't know if coolbook will work with the new chipset but RmClock might work in Windows and bootcamp.

    Answer is simple,

Theres different types of C3,4 states. Your CPU or revision doesnt support those enhanced sleep states thats why the settings wont stick.

RMclock automatically detects and enables these sleep states.

Just finished undervolting my Sony FW-290 and I must say so far the results have been great. When i first ran orthos i got a high temp of 57 degrees celsius, which is not all that hot. After undervolting i got .9000v stable on a 3 hour run on orthos with a top heat output of 45 degrees celsius. If it was possible I think this chip could possibly go lower but im happy with my current results. its idling 36-37 degrees celsius and with super LFM im at 850 mhz lol. This is defiantly a must do for all notebook owners.

Go into Regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > RightMark > RMClock > Look for "UnlockVid", if not there, create a 32-bit DWORD value with that name and assign the valuedata as 1. [0x00000001 (1)]
