So we all have our own opinions regarding different brands. Some of us prefer BMW rather than Mercedes, some prefer Pepsi to coke.. But this is to check which laptop brand you support. If you own a Acer, but prefer Asus, vote for Asus. Take everything into consideration, from build quality to pricing to customer services. If you not sure or no experience, just pick your favourite. Add additional information if you want to.

This thread is to check the popularity of brands. Like the "Most Popular Laptops" pane on the left hand side if you click on the HOME page, I want to be able to have the same concept here. I took all the manufacturers that's viewed on Notebookreview.com

EDIT: Unfortuneately there is only ONE option you can select, so think hard and choose wise! :)

Is there a poll for this or something? Or you just want an opinion?

I say Asus and ThinkPads are the best ones out there.

i think asus and compal are the best but not always the most affordable. in terms of good price/performance ratio i think dell and hp are two of the best

I voted for Dell, but I only like the Latitude series and the Dell XPS M1210. The Dell XPS M1330 has potential.

Dell sells Latitudes, but they do not make them. One second...

EDIT: I had to look something up. I think Quanta makes Latitudes.

Whats with these polls, never really showing the correct ODMs:

Quanta designs/makes some seriously nice and sturdy notebooks. They are the largest notebook manufacturer in the world.
    - notably for Sony, Apple's Macbooks, Lenovo/IBM, Gateway, Dell, etc.

Compal is the right up there as well, with great designs. They are 2nd largest.
    - notably for Toshiba, NEC, some Dell's, HP, Compaqs, etc..

Clevo is probably the most well-known boutique brand manufacturer in the world.
    - more well known with re-branding from Alienware, Sager, VooDoo PC, Falcon, etc..
    - known to be luxury notebooks, and the best for the money.

    ASUS is right up there.
    - making their own notebook lines
(but has recently made a contract to produce the next Toshibas)

MSI (Micro-Star Intl) is another great designer/manufacturer.
    - like Asus, they have their own line of notebooks that get re-branded.

    Then you got:
    AOPEN (Acer)
    Arima
    LG
    MiTAC
    Uniwill
    Twinhead
    Foxconn
    FIC
    ECS

Dont you see that these polls are a bit inaccurate in portraying the "name brands", when in reality, the options that are being voted are skewed since you have several "brands" being designed/manufactured by the same ODM. And since Quanta and Compal combined, they produce about 90% of the world's notebooks... wow.

I believe that poll's should reflect the best OEM (not "brand") notebook build quality or customer/tech support. Its the OEM that should either get the blame or the praise... with the "bloatware" or software package.... good/bad technical support... etc.

I'll vote Clevo... but its put with Sager....

Note: Sager sells Compal and Clevo's. (see what I mean, which do i vote for?)

    Game On People,
    -Gophn

I don't think its fair to have mac up there because thats pretty much its own os. For real results it should be all the others vs mac

That makes no sense. It's not about the OS....and the OP meant Mac as name, he didn't mean Mac OS X. It's about the brand, not the OS they are running.

Wistron manufactures the current consumer line HP/Compaq notebooks(atleast the dv2000/dv6000/dv9000). I presume it is the same with the current dv2500/6500/9500 as well. Compal manufactures some of the low end business notebooks and the some of the higher end 'w' series workstations are assembled by HP themselves in the US(I dont know how true this is but thats what I have heard)

you can see why I say these polls are too skewed and inaccurate.

Given a choice, I'd go with the Thinkpads any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

But for best value, I'd definitely go with Asus.

Maybe a Dell or HP business model too.

I see many people Voting for Asus, and have heard many good things about them before this. But I'm wondering if all their notebooks are exceptionally good for the value, or only the more expensive series? And why doesn't Asus offer extended warranty, only 2 years standard (which, to be fair, is twice as long as most other brand's standard warranty)?

Latitudes offer 3 year international warranty standard and $150 complete care warranty that covers any accidental damage. :)

ASUS does offer a 3 year warranty for a price.

i voted Asus though i just purchased a Dell
I think Asus makes great laptops and desktop motherbaord, but everything else they make are pretty much rebadged crap from other makers
