I would go for the NP9262. It's a monster of a notebook, and I think it's a really good bargain considering how much power you're getting.

I liked my Dell D630, which had an X9000 -- really miss it.. :( ['cause I have to live with a celeron now :D]

Well, at the moment, most new games are only able to utilise two cores....so any Core 2 Duo above 2.0GHz is good for gaming....(and a majority of the old games {2007 and before} - just 1 core)
But I guess the Q6600 is quite a bargain, and would prove useful later, when games are actually able to utilise more than two cores..!!

I voted X9100 - I'd have voted E8500 except for the fact that it isn't actually a mobile processor. Disregarding price, the X9100 is the best mobile processor, sans doubte.

Without considering price, I'd go for a tricked-out 9262. It's maximum power is more, and if price isn't an issue, I'd certainly sacrifice some portability for performance. The reason I have a 15.4-inch laptop now is it was less expensive for the same power - I almost bought a 17-inch one a few weeks before I bought because at that time it was less expensive than a 15.4-inch and had more power.

I'm pretty sure the OP meant poll.

And as explained previously to you, it will depend on the game. Some games utilize dual cores, others multi-cores. A faster clocked dual core will do better than a quad core on a piece of software utilizing only dual core, but will be slower on software that supports multi-cores.

The 9550 is an awesome processor, but for the most bang for your buck it has to be the q6600 or the q6700 as both are relatively inexpensive and they are seriously powerful processors.

Just for the record "dual" cores are "multi" core. And which games can make use of more than two threads at this time?

X9100 at this time, and I was 1st to cast vote so for a while X9100 had 100%. I should of taken a screenshot? Ha ha.

Aren't there a few games that utilize quad cores, or not yet?

I'll just point out that I specified dual and multi, as there are games that support a max of dual, and others that support multi (more than 2).

For multi core support, Supreme Commander comes to mind. UT3 engine games as well.
