I just purchased the 8RF-442n and was cought off-guard when I saw 32gb 2400mhz pieces being offered to bring the MSI to a 64gb max. So, after much digging(through these forums, asking HIdevolution directly, ect...) I learned that indeed MSI pops 32gb max (16x2) on their website only because 32gb sodimm’s do not exist yet. That Samsung is the only company(that I know of) producing them. Further, that these sticks are supported in the P65 with no issues.

Finally, I’m again at a loss, because I CANT FIND THE CHIP ON THE ENTIRE INTERWEBS FOR SALE. Not even an icon that states out of stock. I would just pay HIdevolution to install their in store stock, but I can’t afford/wanna make sure I truely need the 32gb sticks first. Still, I’m curious if anyone knows what is up with these elusive 32gb Samsung DDR4 SO-DIMM ram memory sticks!

I ran across something about the Samsung 32GB SO-DIMMs about a month ago. However, like you, I've not yet to see any for sale on any of the hardware sites where I purchase tech - US based sites. I just don't know if it is publicly or generally available in the North American market at this time.

That was my hunch. But, how can ALL US VENDORS spontaneously not have it (or display out of stock) unless they were contracted to not present it. There are a lot of vendors and that’s a very large coincidence. So this leads me to me next question.
    What did run across?

IIRC, it was a post that someone asked if one of the Clevo models would support a Samsung 32GB SO-DIMM. I ran a quick scan, and can't find that post, but it is here somewhere in an NBR post.

It surprised me as I thought that 16GB / module was the max at this time.

In regards to what I found in general were these:

    - https://www.anandtech.com/show/12824/samsung-unveils-32-gb-ddr42666-sodimms-based-on-16-gb-ics

Oh, I was assuming you had some clever insight on some devious contractural action placed by Samsung onto vendors. Clearly that is what’s happening here. The product is purposefully being withheld to accommodate sales of another in the US. Since only Samsung produces it, they don’t feel pressured by competitors to release it.

That bugs me as a consumer, but it’s their right I suppose.

For ANY OTHERS in the US having issues:
    Samsung 32GB 2666MHz SODIMM M471A4G43MB1-CTDD0

Enter this entire unit ID into search bar, I found international sellers like ram city.
P.S: 803$ Per card at time of this posting

I want to add a further update just in case anybody is reading this thread. I was wrong about it being Samsung's "right" to slow production to jack up prices. I was correct in that is what they are doing, but they were apparently actively fixing prices with two other major companies: Hynix, and Micron. This is scandalous and YOU SHOULD NOT PAY 800$ FOR A CARD THAT HAS BEEN ILLEGALLY JACKED UP IN PRICE. Don't support that activity by paying 800$ for their ram.

@Joedoewoe they have been fixing prices for years, as well as creating artificial shortages to ramp em even higher up and further cash in.

@Starlight5 I didn’t know that until today. Gold star to me for being able to deduce that myself and be right. ;)

Update: I ordered 1 for around 320$. Hopefully it’s compatible with the 16gb Samsung 2666mhz. So I’ll have 48gb for 3D rendering. 1 16gb + 1 32gb both at 2666 from same supplier. I’ll update again when it’s installed to verify they are indeed compatible.

@Joedoewoe if you come by some Skylake laptop / mini pc with SO-DIMMs, please be so kind to try your 32GB RAM module in it. I understand it shouldn't work but sometimes wonders do happen.

No. Those are Rdimms and they won’t fit in a smaller sodimm laptop architecture. Neobits has the best price currently on the correct part (330$ with shipping + tax). It came in a plastic bag with no packaging. I don’t mind since it worked. @Starlight5 honestly opening the p65 8-RF creator is just like opening the Gs65: installing the part is very difficult and I don’t wanna have to open it up again. I’m just grateful I got it working at all. I’ll upload a picture of the disassembly.

Check it out, HIDevolution is the trusted retailer that installs these chips in their laptops (the fact that they install these is what started me on this adventure in the first place). Go to http://www.hidevolution.com/ create a ticket or call them directly. They should know if the installation worked for slightly older laptops. I hope this helps =)

Damn, where did you manage to get such low prices? I am actually interested in these 16GB 2666 MHz ECC modules, which have Samsung B-die chips (which I might overclock using an SPD rewrite). Nice job, by the way!

thanks! here's the link for the 32gb chip https://www.neobits.com/samsung_m471a4g43mb1_ctdd0_samsung_memory_m471a4g43mb1_ctdd0_p13668908.html
here's the link for the 16gb 2666mhz Samsung equivalent https://www.neobits.com/samsung_m393a2k40cb2_ctd7y_samsung_memory_m393a2k40cb2_ctd7y_p13668970.html
Finally, here is a absolutely unbelievable DIMM ram stick link https://www.neobits.com/samsung_m393aak40b42_cwd_samsung_memory_m393aak40b42_cwd_p13667567.html
the last link takes you to what I believe is a 128gb SINGLE STICK OF RAM in DIMM arrangement for only $2562.70 I just think that it's crazy it exists! So what does that mean for people who purchase the new Alienware Area 51m? since it has 4 DIMM slots 512gb of Ram!! but... for $10,000

Actually no. I think the 128gb is an RDIMM
