Thanks

It's a rebadged Samsung. -
Hello guys,
So nobody can answer my question here? I'm talking about post #7076.
Can someone give me an answer about the part which he knowns?
Thank you -

vertex should be better than samsung. aren't 256gb vertex around? -
Vertex drives have some lockup issues that the Samsung do not. Far as real world consistent performance, my understanding is that Samsung is on top. The Summit might be worth a look at too though. It uses a Samsung controller. It's slightly slower than the Vertex but does not seem to suffer any lockup issues.
-
Vertex does perform slightly better overall but it's twice the price too.

i was under the impression that intel had just recently confirmed the 320 GB drive for some time in August?
as for this, i'm getting different (worse) numbers for my 80 GB 2nd gen - ~235 @ seq read, ~14 @ 4k write, and ~23 @ 4k read - anybody have any ideas why? is there a firmware update for this that i'm missing or something? seeing as it just came out a few days ago, i'd certainly hope not. i'm running the following system:
Precision M4400
T9800 @ 2.93 GHz
quadro fx 770m
4 GB OCZ DDR2-800
Windows 7 RC 32-bit -
Where did you read that it's coming out in August? My article came from Cnet and out of the mouth of Troy Winslow.
-
ah i see. apparently the article i had read was merely more rumors. i dare say that cnet article is from a slightly more trustworthy source
-
I guess you missed the post pointing to the Dell 256GB SSD...
-
Dell does not make their own SSDs. Only thing I've heard about the Samsung drives in Dells is that they are much better than the Scandisk that Dell was previously providing. Overall faster with no slow downs or lockups. What are you talking about?
-

lockup issues? not the vertex. those where on the old ocz, yes.
then again, if it's really a 1:2 in price, the samsungs are worth it. i wouldn't chose one personally anymore. -
I too am clueless Dave...never experienced any lockups with my drive.
-
Some stuff I wrote up for some other forums on the Intel 2nd Gen:
Probably old news for you guys, but hopefully it's somewhat insightful. -
It only took 750 forum pages or so of reading to get to this point, but I received my X25-M G2 80 GB from Buy.com yesterday, backed up my 7200 ThinkPad HDD and restored to the Intel. Took all of 45 minutes. Rebooted as if nothing had happened, except the system is amazingly quick to startup and Outlook *finally* behaves like a polished, late-generation product. No more waiting for search to complete. The $240 investment here will save me thousands in the long run (if I add up the time waited with the HDD!).
I look forward to seeing the 320 GB with a SATA6 controller next year from Intel. Thanks for everyone's help on this board! -
I just punched the clock on the 160gb Intel with a 500GB and 1TB Samsungs for backups. So much for paying bills with my Sager sale profits.. there's still some left.. until I get the NEC LCD. I need a second job..
.. Newegg just pulled both the new Intel SSDs off their site. Not out of stock.. but just plain gone. -
HAHAHa i think you made the right choice with the intel. You need multiple heads/brains/more appendages to need more than 160gb at one time
-
I didn't get it. It was in my shopping cart and I was going through check out and all of a sudden it disappeared..
Maybe Newegg was afraid they'd be left with old stock..
-
Do you guys think there is a new Samsung 256GB and 128GB SSD around the corner? Dell just pulled their SSD's from the SXPS line. Maybe something new is coming?
-
Maybe Dell is planning on using the new Intel drives.
-
Seems like all good questions for Dell. I'm sure they'd be able to answer them all.
-
They seem to be there now... Probably a server glitch.
Interestingly, they say "Limit 1 per customer" !!
-
They're not available. See, it says deactivated: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167017
ETA: OH! They put a different one back up.. was with that.. oh well *pounces on it*
ETA2: "Removed from cart due to quantity limitations"
They're out *sigh* -
Anyone know where I can find an IN STOCK P256? I've tried Newegg, ZZF, Buy, PerformancePCs, FrozenCPU, Geeks, Mwave, Amazon (selling for more than the MSRP, ), CDW, BH.. seriously running out of places to look.
-
Dell.com - Samsung P256 for $480 (I had the link on this forum like 20 pages back or so?)
-
Mmmm.. only one I see is a rebadged Dell drive.. ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=341-8981) that's the exact same drive as the Corsair P256 (rebadged Samsung)?
-
Yes, that is the Samsung. The pic is wrong though, but users have ordered that one and it is the right P/N. Corsair uses this exact same drive in their P256.
-
That is an absolute steal then for that price. Thanks!
-
Does anyone know of any dell accessory coupon codes that would also work?
-
The Dell web site says "ships in 24 hours" but it's a lie, my order got delayed till august and then today it got cancelled. So, they're backordered too.
Not sure if I should try placing the order again, or just sit back and wait now.
Also I wonder if that JMicron update will work on my Titan, since it's a pair of JMicrons internally RAIDed. I.e., will the updater actually be able to access the right firmware on each individual drive, or will it only see the RAID controller and not be able to do anything. -

Unfortunately those coupons don't work for the SSD, but I have seen coupons work before...
-
meh it was worth a try
-
Yeah for up to 35% on a SSD would be sweet... read the coupon fine print it's limited to certain brands in their accessories. Lame.
-
I may give it a shot on my 120GB CoreV2. It's just sitting idle now, so couldn't hurt. Of course OCZ says using any 3rd party firmware will void the warranty; we wouldn't have to go to stupid measures like this if they had lived up to their original promise and *provided* an update on their own. OCZ still remains on my blacklist...

Is in greek but the pictures speak from themselves.
Google translated -
the newegg goes to the G1 one... not the G2. THus it's old. -
-
ganzonomy, apparently you missed the past several pages where were were talking about Newegg pulling the new drives. They're out of stock.
Samsung is as backordered as the new Intel drives..only seems like they've been backordered for a long time.. wonder what's up. -
IE: they're out of the new or old intels?
*is confused* -
They're out of the new Intels, but instead of just marking them out of stock they marked them discontinued. They'll get more, just don't know when.
-
out of the new intels... yet marked discontinued for them... that sounds a little treif to me. (treif = non-kosher).
I really want the 160GB one badly myself, and if I can't get that... I'm looking at an SLC foremay due to raw IOPS and r/w speed. Can't decide! -
Do you have to have it right now? There's just a high demand. They'll get more.
-
I've never even heard of foremay. Can you provide reviews where it beats Intel?
-
it sounds treif. lolz.
-
What is the current market price for this cheetah v? Sorry guys I haven't kept track of this thread for nearly a month so I'm behind the latest developments...
-
I would not be buying anything like that without some actual proof to back it up. That's way too expensive to be throwing to a company that the general computer world doesn't seem to know exists. I would think that if it were really all that hot we would be hearing SOMETHING about it. I searched for those SSDs in google and there wasn't even enough info to fill one page of results. Most of the info came back in a foreign language and not applicable. I can't find any reviews what so ever. Two almost nothings from storagesearch (like one paragraph press releases) and then some stuff you've written about. The only thing remotely helpful is you saying that the company has refused to state what controller they're using..to me it's not a positive thing.

For everyone that has a G2 on order:
From http://pcper.com/article.php?aid=750 -
Hopefully the updated firmware will include the Windows 7 TRIM support
-
People already have them? I just heard they were released this week. Nice.
