I have been looking around without any luck. I have the asus g50vt and I need to replace the thermal pads everywhere. How do I know which thickness pad to get? I also wanted to know if it will benefit using copper instead of pads? How would I gauge the thickness to replace the gpu/chipset thermal pad with copper if there is a benefit? Or if anyone has done the copper mod to the g50, what thickness did you use/how did you gauge? Were the results enough to make this mod worth wild?

My brother had the g50vt, and if I remember correctly they are 1mm pads on the gpu memory. I also have had the g51j and replaced the pads with 1mm pads.

Thank you. So the pads are the same thickness on the gpu chip and all of the surrounding smaller chips and transistors on the gpu board?

On the gpu die itself you should use a thermal paste.

Oh whoops, I was thinking of the chipset. That was the other one I wasn't sure about the size.

If a thermal pad isnt thick enough can you fold it over and double the thickness?
