I have a HP DV5t with 3gb ram 800ghz, and it only scores 4.8 in my vista rating, whereas my desktop with only 2gb ram 800ghz scores 5.9??!!!
One more thing is that I feel my laptop runs a bit slower than it can do with a t5800 processor. Are these because of the memory is bad or...the CPU? Can I up my score and performance with a new memory kit? I'm thinking about buying two Corsair CGM2X2GS800

WEI is flawed, don't worry about your scores. What are your desktop specs compared to the laptop? Typically desktops are faster... More memory on your laptop won't help since 3GB is sufficient to handle almost all tasks nowadays.
-
idk how much it will help, but i installed 1 of those 4gb flash drives with the "ready boost". i already have 4gb of ram on board and had a score of 4.8, the ready boost bumped it up to 5.2.
-
But then, as others said, WEI is flawed.
My 4GB or RAM on my Vaio get 5.0 - running at 666MHz
And about it being flawed... I reran the tool - and it decided my Intel X3100 was as good, or even better than the NVidia 8400GS - no driver updates on the Intel Card as far as I can tell.
So, yes, it is flawed.
Also, look at how quickly you get the results - a decent benchmark takes much, much longer. -
FYI: WEI gives a 5.9 to my 2x2GB OCZ DDR2-800 in my laptop...

i get 5.9 on 920Mhz CL4 RAM
but seriously, my desktop HDD has the same score as my laptop one -
I'm going to replace my memory with the corsair CGM2X2GS800, is it compatible with my laptop?
-
it should be
-
WEI is ultra flawed is your overall score 4.8 or just your memory? another reason could be your desktop has dedicated vram and your lappy is probably shared
-
also, the laptop ram could be something ridiculous and cheap like CL7
-
there is no problem in your laptop memory, laptop's are little bit slower than the desktops
so that you don't worry about it. -
If the score is the system testing score, that is about right.
It is because the laptop HDD is not as fast as the desktop.
Also the mainboard bus speed, VGA card and CPU also play major roles in the whole brenchmark result.
Hope this helps!
