Hi,
I am needing to get some doublesided thermal tape to reassemble my 7800gtx go video card. It attaches to the memory chips on underneath of card, then a heatshield attaches to it. I can't track anything suitable locally, so am looking to get something on the net. Can anyone recommend what to use?
Note that I am not using this for the GPU (I have a proper silver thermal compund for that), just to attach the heatshield to memory.
Cheers!

Shin Etsu sells thermal pads. They can be hard to install, so you may want to buy a few more than you need. 3M also manufactures them.
If the original pads were on the thick side I would replace them with individual copper mods. If you need copper cut I can cut you any size/dimension you want. However with copper modding you still need thermal compound and thermal adhesive.

Cheers for the info. They are very thin, on underside of the graphics card, the ones on the top memory are thick. Will see if the card works after reassembling, if so will look into copper modding on the top memory, and maybe sticking in a copper shim.
I wish I had had the guts to take apart the laptop 3 years ago and upgrade all the cooling - didn't want to mess with it under warranty, and now the heat damage is done! If I can't resurrect this card I'll be doing everything possible to keep the replacement one cool and performing.
Thermal tape for memory chips?
