Right now my laptop has a P7350, 4GB DDR3, and a Vertex 2 60GB SSD. I'm hoping I can keep it at least another 2 years. With the price of RAM dropping, I've debated throwing in 8GB. I currently don't come close to maxing out my 4GB so that may be a waste of $ looking at it, however with Windows 8 coming out maybe it's worth it? I've also been looking at CPU upgrades, my current one is 2GHz with 3MB cache and a 1066MHz FSB. I'm looking at a P9500. If I'm not overclocking it, is there any difference between a C0 and E0 stepping?

Before you do anything, what is your general use of the computer and what might you find is lacking?

I do know C0 usually runs hotter and may be higher TDP. I would always go with the E0 as they are usually the final builds. I had an Asus G51vx-R05 that had the P7350. I overclocked it to 2.592ish and its pretty fast. I didnt check but does the P9500 have 6mb cache, P7350 has 3mb. If not, I would not recommend it and just oc your current one. If it does then go for it as it has the same tdp i believe. I upgraded to an E8435 and that is 3.06ghz with 6mb cache. That was a difference I can see an feel. I was worried that it would run to hot, but I got the E0 version which ran cooler than my OC'd P7350. Highly recommend looking into either the E8335 which is even cooler but I think it runs at 2.9x ghz and has an lower tdp than mine. Again just make sure you can get an E0 version. the E series are like a third of the price of the P and T series. GL

Daily web use, some Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash. Find overall speed of launching apps and Windows to be a little slow.

Again I wouldn't be overclocking, this laptop doesn't even have any BIOS options for it. I would go for an E0, as I'm aware that's a newer stepping. However, it's pretty hard to find this model in E0, most for sale are C0. P9600s are mainly E0, but they're a lot more expensive.

Are you already running the latest Intel RST drivers?

Yep, well as of 6 months ago.

I checked and none of those iMac E8xxx CPUs are 25w :(
