I've been using a 1920x1200 display for a long time on my p7805u. It's a great display, and I can play almost all my games up to the native resolution.
Ever since I hooked up to my external TV, I've been playing almost always in 720p, and I really like the quality with maxed AA and AF and I get much better fps (almost always 60) which I'm starting to find essential in gaming.
So now I'm thinking of getting a very high quality 720p display to replace my current one on my laptop. Could you be so kind as to post a few links to some good products.
I'm looking for high quality, but at a decent price.

Alright first i can not believe you can max out every game with a 9800M gts @1920x1200 no matter how overclocked you are, theres no way when my 6990 even takes a hit from this kind of res. Next i beileve its a very good idea you will make you laptop last much longer in the gaming world compared to a 1200p screen.Im sorry i can only find 900p screens for that model heres the link anyways
Gateway P-7805U FX replacement Laptop LCD Screen from $109.99 Brand-new screens (never used). -
high quality =\= 720p....

Why not just lower the games resolution to 720p? Saves time and money.
BTW, the reason I clicked on this thread:
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
He can play almost all his games at native res, reading between the lines likely at lower settings without AA/AF, but even then not all of them are.
What he is saying is that by moving down to 1280x720 he can turn on higher details and AA/AF as its at a lower res (less than half the pixels of his native) which is very likely true. -
Once again this is just for info, it looks like the lowest res for this model is the 1400x900 screen, but that's not what I'm aiming for.
And I can't find any 720p 17inchers for other laptops either.
Oh well was just a thought aniway, I'll keep using my hdtv for my 720p gaming.
And for those who don't believe I can run games @ 1920x1200 smoothly and at high (if not max) settings, go check out my many videos on youtube.
I used to feel 30-40 fps was smooth enough, but now after gaming at almost a constant 45-60 fps (Deus Ex:HR, Crysis 2, Dead island) I feel like anything lower than that is a bit choppy. -
This would be good lol
and in your youtube video show your settings
all i know it could be 800x600
Lets just be real here for a sec. I have a 6990 overclocked to a dekstop 6850 okay? And i still take a hit from this kind of stuff(crysis 2 dx11 ultra his res pack) so im sorry but there is no way in hell its possible, thats all i gotta say about that. -
Just turn down the resolution in-game if you're not able to play at the settings you want. With AA enabled, any distortion will be minimized.
-
-
Just set game resolution to 1280x720, crank up AA to 4x or higher and you're done.
-
-
It probably hasn't been mentioned, but why don't you just try turning down the resolution?
-
Because it looks like complete crap when you do that.

I thought it was obvious to any PC gamer on this forum that playing at 720p on a 1200p native screen looks horrible.
The amount of blur created is unbearable to anyone looking for quality in graphics.
Oh well it's fine, I just tested Dead Island on my native display @ 1920x1200 all maxed settings with AAx4, AFx16 and 2048 rez shadows and I get an average of 35 fps on Fraps. That's still very playable even if not as buttery smooth as 45-60. -
-
I dunno. I usually find 720p looks good on a 1080p display. Run 4xAA and FPS are usually better than at 1080p no AA and looks nearly the same. Depends on the game.
Thinking of getting a high quality 1280x720p display for my Laptop
