    Hello all,

Recently aquired an 8month old Thinkpad T42, in excellent condition etc. On checking the battery status on the machine it lists the following:

    Full Charge: 71.22wh
    Design Capacity: 77.66wh

I know that batterys degrade in the charge they hold over time so is this normal? Would doing the "improve health" option on the laptop (discharging and cycling 3 times) improve the charge held?

Fully discharging and recharging doesn't improve capacity (as far as I know). It recalibrates it so that it shows the correct amount of power left in it.

If you've never done it, I'd say go for it....You don't know the EXACT conditions the previous owner held it in, right?
