Help Me Please!! i have a new thinkpad t61 with 2.0 ghz, 3 gig ram, 14.1 inch, nvidia quadro nvs 140m, 7 cell battery, running vista 64 bit.. I have the most current gpu driver but i cannot find the powermizer feature. I looked under the nvidia control panel but there is nothing (only, 3d options, TV settings, Display settings) I dont know what to do. My Gpu is killing my battery and i want to be able to turn it down

Go check out www.laptopvideo2go.com and search those forums. The Powermizer feature may not be in the drivers you have, however its just as likely already active and doing its thing. You can get newer drivers over on those forums just be prepared to do some searching. There appears to be some voodoo in determining if it is actually working or not so keep that in mind. No idea how much actual benefit you can get from it either.

Awesome, worked great thanks so much. I had been on that site before and found a newer driver...but it did nothing. I didnt realize that i had passed over an even newer driver. without you saying anything i would have never double checked. Thanks again!

Well, i loaded the newest drive i could find on that above site, but i still have no options for the powermizer. Perhaps maybe its just automatic and runs in the background. Why would that be though, i know that ati offers complete control of their gpu when on battery or a.c?

HP Pavilion No speedstep and no powermizer
I've just bought a HP pavilion T6150, 2 Gigs, 8400GS and Vista
In my opinion, Vista is half stable : manufacturers have chosen to ignore Speedstep and powermizer before SP1 -
I believe the intent of Powermizer in Vista is to work transparently and always make sure you are saving energy blah blah blah.
But really I am leaning towards believing that it does nothing. -
In Vista, there's no Powermizer setting in the NV control panel because that feature is now integrated into the power options. Some people seem to have it working just fine (i.e. it automatically reduces clock speeds under light load), but for me only the most basic functionality is working...max speed under high performance, a lower speed under power saving, and no automatic clock reduction. Don't ask me why, it seems inconsistent.

I use to have two hours on an old Dell PIII, with 2K and XP.
Maybe with home basic, we can go further
