Here's the situation. I have a 32gb crucial msata ssd on the way and it will be used for linux (thinking either kubuntu or ubuntu) in the wwan slot. I am a developer and use both platforms for work.
I already have a 256gb crucial m4 for windows 7 in the hard drive slot. I want to keep these drives separate from each other (linux only runs on the msata, windows only runs on the sata).
What are the steps I need to take to do this?
My major concerns are:
-Do I take out the sata ssd before sticking in the msata?
-Or, do I stick it in without taking out sata ssd? (like do all the tuning/optimization stuff like alignment on windows and then install linux).
-How would I keep these drives from accessing the other?
-Assuming the above has been determined, how would i then optimize once I am in linux?
-What about thinkpad drivers on linux once its up?
-and any other information, tips, warnings you can supply?
Thanks to all those who respond.

I would say you need both installed with Windows installed and running on the SSD as you want/need it setup.
When you install Linux, it should create a boot manager for you - depending on the version of Linux you use will depend how you can access the other O/S...
As for the O/S's not seeing the other: you can't do that (afaik).
As for the drivers for Linux; you're on your own.
Good luck.
