This is going to sound like a really dumb question....

I have a Compaq Presario S3100NX desktop with 256 MB of RAM and a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 ghz processor with 80GB Ultra drive. The max memory is 1 GB.

Our computer is starting to slow up. I'm not sure if it's the system or the AT&T DSL.

Would upgrading any of these help with the speed of the system?

And if so, I'll have plenty of follow ups.

You should ask on desktop review.
As mentioned a memory upgrade, and a fresh installation of windows will help increase the speed of your system

    1- Increase your RAM.
2- Defrag your HDD (or go with a fresh install of the OS)
