    Guys,

i ve started noticing my 3 yr old 100 GB IDE Samsung Hard-disk has started running very very slow.

the movies folder stored on it loads the files very slowly....

and movie playback stutters and seeks.
I used Auslogics defrag but it didnt help much.

    perhaps some other defrag program?

So is my HD's life over? U can tell me fast coz some sale is going on for 500GB External HD.

just get a 500gb one anyways, 100 gb is no where near enough storage.

First, I suggest you check whether this hard drive has bad sectors.
Did you have another hard drive connected in this computer? If you have, you may try to copy the movies to that drive and try again. If you run too many applications or the movie player is abnormal, the movie will 'playback stutters and seeks'.
You also may try to copy all files to another hard drive or place, and then re-format this hard drive to use.

I second that one. Don't worry, external HDDs always go on sale online/at stores, you'll almost ALWAYS find a low price somewhere!
