Well I have a tip to improve your stock Vertex and pixel shading speed. Download latest cats from ATI and try to install them up untill you get the error message due to not having a supported chip, then quit.

Start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> hardware tab -> device manager -> display adapters expand -> right click graphics card -> update driver -> no internet searching -> specific location (advanced) -> don't search (choose driver) -> have disk -> browse to c:/ati/support/(latest driver version here)/driver/2kxp_inf/CX_22141.inf (select this)/ list expands to every ATI card/ go to "Radeon 9800xt series" and select / install these -> restart -> enjoy

    Cheers to OHP from futuremark

    Dear OHP & Meaker,

Hi! I want to know is the result will be the same if I install the mod-ded latest catalyst driver? Or this improvement only shows when we force-install the 9800XT? [8D]

    Thank you man~ NBR.com is a nice forum. [ ;)]

As far as I know, if you install the modded catalysts (selecting 9800) it will be the same, but I could not test this.

No clockspeed changes, it should work with the omegas, but I have no idea what will happen with any changes so best stick with the officials and download any programs included separatly. It just improves the way software handles pixel and vertex shading.

I don't know if the drivers are responsible but I'm getting
    fantastic overclocking results now.

I can game stable at 500/300 MHz with my MR9700 and I think it can be pushed further.

Do you think this would work with the X200m GPU or is it just the ones you have listed?

Well a lot of praise has been put on the 4.12 betas as the best for the 9800 series and since this mod uses that driver path I decided to give them a go. The results? Same performance as the ORIGINAL DRIVERS. So as it stands the only driver I KNOW this works is 5.4, I have not tested any other apart from these two.

As for the x200m, I have never heard of that, if its a lower clocked version of the x300 then yeah it would work, any of them based on the RV360 core wil work.

Drivers based on the Catalyst 5.5s give me a similar performance increase when using this tweak, including the standard 5.5

With regards to improving performance of the x600 mobility does it matter whether the card is 64mb or 128mb?

I am considering to purchase either a Z81K/3400+/1GB-DDR333/M9700 setup and I am trying to rate that against a Canadian spec Aspire 1694WLMI/Centrino 1.86G/1GB(2x512)DDR2-533/x600. The price difference for new is extremely close!

I believe both cards have 64mb of memory onboard. Could this mod improve 3DMark0x performance for either of these laptop configs or should I seek out lappys with higher onboard vram for this?
