I am seriously thinking about either upgrading my laptop with a new hard drive ( this hard drive ) and a new processor ( P9700 , or P9600]) or sell my laptop and get one of the laptops with the new i5 and 5x series ATI card.

That is what I was thinking, but I would like some more opinions. I liked the looks of the MSI GE600 (it has ATI 5730) and the i5. So what do you guys think the price would be on that laptop?

I'd sell it and get one with a Core i7/i5.

Do you think that the i5 is better on battery than the P7350?

These new processors are very overhyped, at least the core i5 series. The true deal comes with the quad core i7s... Come one it is just a 20% of performance increase... I would keep the laptop and upgrade to a new laptop when sandy bridge arrives.

and a P9600 or P9700 would do just fine :D.

I would agree too, but I really want the ATI 5x series with the Directx 11. I want my laptop to be sort of up to date. Plus, this is probably the only time of year, with tax return, that I will have enough money to get another laptop.

As much as a performance difference the spec's might suggest by upgrading, I would vote for buying a new system. The new platform is better, by far.

But, I would still get the Hitachi TravelStar 7K500 HD for the new system. ;)

    Cheers!

SSD hard drive = the best upgrade money can buy if you wana stick with what you got.

otherwise, even a $500-$600 system would be a great upgrade over what you have now. i have a rule that i buy a new laptop once every 2-3 years depending on how much i've used it.

    your call on this one.

i would sell it and get an ASUS G73... it costs $1600 and comes with core i7-720qm , ATI 5870 , fastest mobile card with directx 11... 17 inch full HD screen , Blue ray... and only for $1600... u're old system can get $1k so this upgrade is quite good...
