Hi there
My laptop is a Gateway MX3050B. Now the problem. The laptop has a power board under the power button which is connected to the main board via the cable in attached Picture. Lately I'm having problems to switch the laptop ON unless I fiddle/move this internal cable. I checked this cable with a voltmeter and there was no resistance in three out of the four wires composing it.
1- What's the technical name of this cable?
2- Where can I get a replacement cable without spending a fortune?
3- Is there an alternative fix to this cable?
4- If I find a longer cable than the one on my laptop how do I go to make it shorter?
Thanks

Did you call Gateway support? Make sure you don't tell them you are pulling cables out of your laptop otherwise they will cancel your warranty.

I didn't called them as I know they will ask a lot for a simple cable. The laptop is not under warranty. -
What are the measurements? Contact width and pitch?

Hi
I'm not sure what you mean by pitch.
The length of the cable is about 15cm and the width is about 5mm. The cable is flat and has four wires inside. -

"Pitch" means the centre to centre spacing between those contacts.
Is repair an option by soldering some thin insulated wires to the existing wires near each end? That would be my approach.

I suggest checking the Service Manual/Guide of your notebook. The part name and number will be in there and you can just type it in ebay

You will need to slice the excess off carefully with a stanley knife. -
thanks for your help
