So im pretty much set on getting either a hitachi or seagate 5400 rpm 100 gig drive. Tho cant decide on what to get. I like the reliability of seagate, but it comes at a slight price premium. And I like the slight speed advantage of the hitachi, but heard it runs a little hotter and is less reliable.

    What do u think?

Can't go wrong with either. Whats are the prices of both?

I prefer Seagate and don't mind paying a little extra for them.

Worst comes worst, flip a coin.

You'll be in pretty good shape with either one.

I'm in the same position, but I think I'll go with the Hitachi.

The Seagate will probably be a bit quieter, but the above posters are right in saying that you can't go wrong with either drive.

I personally really like seagate drives. Among other things they are very quiet and carry good warranty. But I think either drive will keep you happy.

Seagate is a bit cooler and a bit quieter.

    Hitachi is faster.

I have had a ton different drives over the years, both notebook and desk. I have never, ever, had a Seagate die on me. Pay the little extra and be on the safe side. :)

Right-click My Computer, select Properties, go to the Hardware tab, click on Device Manager, expand the Disk Drives node, and write down the name of the hard drive. Do a search for the name in Google to find sites that list the specifications of your hard drive.
