    Upgraded a Toshiba A105 S2081 from 512 MB DDR2 (533Mhz) to 2GB DDR2 667Mhz.
After the upgrade, the laptop won't boot. When I place the original 512MB back in the laptop, it won't boot with the original either!
    Does anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks,

Are you sure you have the memory seated in properly?

Did you ground yourself when you did the RAM upgrade?

Yes, the 512 is working now, wasn't seated properly. The new memory still isn't working.

It's very likely that the memory you purchased isn't compatible with your particular laptop, laptops are finicky like that so be sure to check w/ the manufacturer to find out absolutely everything to make sure you buy compatible memory.

I just bought the cheapest ram which happened to be Kingston, and it work.
I would recommend that you stick with the brand name ones.
I have a Toshiba and Hynix(stock), Kingston, and Samsung ram work in mine, haven't tested any others.

Did you try all the combinations of the RAM modules in both slots (I'm assuming you have two slots)?

Is your 2GB upgrade 1 x 2GB or 2 x 1GB? If it is the former, what chipset do you have?

Yes, we tried all combinations. It does have 2 slots. The upgrade is 2 x 1GB. The memory is Crucial, which I've used in the past. The laptop is using an ATI RADEON Xpress 200M chipset.

Another note I'm doing this remotely the person with the laptop is about 100 miles away.

    Thanks for all your suggestions!

I would leave the memory in that is working and re-seat the one that does not, again, For some reason this one stick that I bought finnaly work after the 5th or 6th time reseating it. If it finally works then reseat the other.
