    Hello,

    What is that?
    Is it the chipset?
But I think it's crazy that I can change the chipset just like that, and if I look abit to the right inside that gap I see the processor.

Google doesn't turn up anything and Toshiba's site is less than helpful... but it definitely isn't the chipset. The chipset'll be soldered to the motherboard and 100% irreplaceable.

My first guess would be that it's a slot for a second hard drive, but this is a 15" laptop and there doesn't seem to be a connector. There seem to be pins for another set of SATA connectors, the connectors themselves just aren't there...

I believe that it is a hard drive compartment. As for the lack of a connector, its possible that Toshiba is using a chassis design from another model for this laptop.
