I have a Toshiba laptop I have got from my partner to fix for her as its really slow & I said i'd do my magic. Then i thought about Upgrading the CPU as i have done this many times with AMD laptops. Anyways, The laptop Chipset is GL40 Rev 7 & southbridge is 82801m (ICH9-M). The CPU thats in at the moment is a T1600. I was wondering what other CPU's does the laptop support as I will consider anything thats better than whats already in thats not to lavish in price. If you could list the CPU range or whatever then I can search the benchmarks for the CPU's to see which is best to get with a price a factor.
Thanks

im still a little lost with this as I am unsure. Will this cpu fit. PassMark - Intel Core2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53GHz - Price performance comparison ?

Your T1600 is a socket M CPU, the P8700 is socket P, so no it will not work. You need at least the same socket and usually the same bus frequency. That's why I linked the guide, there's a list of which CPU has which socket and FSB speed. What is the laptop's exact model?

Late to ask what but what exactly model of Toshiba laptop is it? That would help beyond the T1600 cpu?
