First of all I would like to say hi to everyone, because as you can see I’ve just joined the board :)

I would like to buy additional 1GB of RAM for my Toshiba Satellite A100-220 (standard 256MB DDR2 533MHz is really not enough :D ) but I’m a bit confused which one should I pick. I live in the UK and I found a couple of websites which offer memory for A100-220. First of them called Orca Logic LTD offers 1GB of dedicated ram for the price of £30.43 ( http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=22351&ft=M) and Kingston’s (dedicated?) 1GB for £49.12 ( http://www.orcalogic-kingston.co.uk/asp/product.asp?p_id=7697&cat=). The other one – Ebuyer offers Kingston’s universal 1GB ram for £25.56 ( http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/83934/rb/0)

1). Will Orca’s dedicated memory perform better than Kingston’s universal memory?
2). Which one would you recommend to buy and from where?
3). Do you have any other, better suggestions regarding this upgrade?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Any brand of DDR2 PC4200 should work fine.

Any DDR2 will work. Just get the cheapest and make sure you don't accidentally get desktop ram. Since you've been running off 256 I don't think you'd care about the 1% gain you'd get from worrying about what speed to get.

Try OcUK. They are a very reputable store in the UK.

The Crucial RAM there is comptabale with your system. it is faster (667Mhz), and also about £10 cheaper than the RAM from the links you posted.

You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but it is always good to buy RAM from a reputable company. I would buy the Kingston RAM.

Can you actually put 667MHz RAM into my laptop which require 533MHz DDR2 and will it work? Is going to make any differnce regarding performance i.e. is it going to be faster?

It'll work. Whether it'll do the faster speed is the question. Only laptops with CoreDuo or later take advantage of 667.

Please help! I've reinstalled Windows Xp on my satelite a100-220, and now I have some trouble with some characters: for example "@" is on "2" key, instead on the separate key. What regional settings should I make???
