    Hello all,
I have my Toshiba Satellite Pro C850-13Q just running out of warranty, and I'm preparing a SSD and RAM upgrade, and thinking about trying a CPU upgrade as well.
My laptop model has a Celeron B820. Its MB reference is PSKC9E-01G00KEP.
A lot has been discussed about trying to upgrade the CPU for this kind of low-budget Toshibas, namely here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...-shuts-off-after-exactly-30-minutes-help.html, and it seems the problem everybody is having is due to CPU whitelisting by Toshiba. But I haven't found anyone trying an upgrade with this restriction in mind.
So I though I'd try to get a CPU that's working on a very similar model, hoping that I can interchange it to myne. The CPU I have in mind is a Core i3 2370m, that equips the C850-13L, PSKC9E-00V01NEP. Both models use the same version of the BIOS ("6.80-WIN" is the latest model).
Can (and will) Toshiba go to the length of checking the MB reference or any other HW/SW configuration to use as basis for its CPU whitelist? Or will they just stick to whithelisting by BIOS version or some other "broader" parameter?
Does anyone have any idea on how this whitelisting works?
I understand it'll be hard to find anyone who knows the exact answers to my questions, but nevertheless I'd like to read your oppinions on my approach and your gesses as to the success of this attempt, were I to try it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gonçalo.
