    Hello. :)

I have a Toshiba Satellite S855 (exactly S855-S5382) with US keyboard not backlit.

I would like to know if my notebook is compatible with a backlit keyboard. I wanted to know if my motherboard has the extra slot for the wire on the backlit keyboard.

Also, if it does have that slot, which keyboards are compatible with this model computer? I see ones for the Satellite L850 or P850 models that look exactly like this one in size, keys, etc. Are these keyboards compatible?

If my laptop does not have that slot, is there a way to connect the power wire of the backlit keyboard to the motherboard?

Thank you for your attention. I await your response.
    Best regards, Anselmo.

If a similar model does not offer backlit keyboard option, then it's probably not possible as most backlit keyboards have an extra ZIF connector for the backlit. You can't just modify your motherboard to add such a connection, if you wanted a backlit keyboard up front you should have purchased a model that has it as an option or bought it straight up.

Thanks for your interest and for responding quickly. :)

Searching the Internet, I found three photos of part of my laptop where it connects to the keyboard:

Also, I found the photo of the keyboard of a Toshiba Satellite P850, for sale on eBay. Indeed, there is the cable for the power of the keyboard:

You think that there is no slot to connect the power wire of the backlit keyboard on my motherboard?

The backlight ZIF connector is always by the main keyboard ZIF connector. In the 2nd picture you have the keyboard ZIF on the left, and the touchpad ZIF on the right. Backlit keyboard on this model is not feasible.
