Hello Guys![]()
I just want to ask here about an APC Universal Charger. My Laptop Needs 15V 5 A while the charger only supplies 15v 4.7 A. Can the Charger run the laptop without damage? And btw, no battery is installed because it's dead. So I only run my laptop thru wall. Can the charger run it?
Edit:
My Laptop is 75W while the Charger has no info about it.

Any help here?

If no one else is able to answer the question, I can move it to the Hardware-subforum of NoteBookReview. Just post here if you want it moved.
Good luck -
I think no one can answer. So it ok for me to move it

It shouldn't damage it.
I ran my p750 from a 75w power supply when it comes with a 120w charger normally, only problem was that if I were to stress the notebook it would just turn off.
So you may not get full performance from the machine but it should be useable.
Underclock the CPU a bit and you will be fine (use throttlestop).
As long as the voltage is the same (which in your case it is), you shouldn't damage anything. Other than loss of data if the machine is stressed too much and turns off without warning. -
Ok. I think my laptop will not go load up to 5AMP because i won't charge the battery anymore. Thanks
I'm gonna let this thread open for more answers

moral hazard is right. voltage is important and should always be the same if you want to change to a different the power brick. how much current your laptop will need depends on how much load you put on it; the lower the load, the lower the amperage your laptop will suck from the power supply. the 0.3A difference in current at 15V DC leads to a 4.5W of power difference between the two power bricks. so make sure your laptop does not use more than 70.5W of power on max load, and you'll be fine.

Do i need to underclock my CPU or just running without charging is fine?

i think you should be fine with normal tasks, and even light gaming. but probably you should refrain from running Prime95 or Furmark. if you want to be certain, get a Kill-A-Watt to monitor your power draw from the wall socket; it should stay below 70.5W with the new power brick.
