I have a Toshiba L305D-S5974 that I got as a temp for my wife. It is so much slower than my A215 though, so I'm wondering what processor upgrade choices I have. I asked in the Toshiba forums and they referred me here and told me I should run CPU-Z to help everyone here make a good decision based on chipset and so forth. I uploaded the TXT and zipped the cvf for further help...

I know from looking at CPU-Z, that the mainboard is a Toshiba Portable PC model, Base Board Version... Chipset is AMD 780G Rev 00... The Southbridge is ATI SB700, LPCIO is NS and the BIOS is Insyde ver. 1.80

The proc is currently a Sempron SI-42, Socket S1 (638). What else is needed to help me get something worth running this box?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Scottie

The Sempron Sl series is a socket S1g2 cpu. So, any of the Athlon X2 QL or Turion RM and ZM series should fit provided bios support, which it most likely should given that toshiba sold the T305D series with the Athlon and Turions as well.

I think it's a good idea if anyone willing to share a thread/post about AMD mobile cpu compatibility :D
