I have toshiba Equim A300D-13X laptop. the monitor was not working but power was there on laptop and I was testing with new monitor yesterday. I have put the new monitor on the top of the keyboard area (keyboard taken out already) and trying to attach the monitor cable on it. suddenly burning smelling came from around the battery (battery was taken) area but not exactly seen where from smell came. then after no more power coming on laptop.
I would like to back the power. If anybody have the idea, It would be great help to me.
Thank you

Can you show pictures?
Sounds like you shorted something - maybe you need a new M/B? -
hi tilleroftheearth
Thank you for your kind response.
I have attached the photographs of M/B. Photographs are not so clear and the burning smelling came from the near to battery place. I have put the red rubber in that place in the photographs for notices only.
As you told, it was shorted. I am also agree somehow with your idea. It was burning and smelling came and then after no more power.
If you have any idea after see these attachment, it would be great helpful.
Thank you

Are you sure it was a short? I mean. You had removed your battery and I'm assuming the computer wasn't plugged in.

Hi
I am sure, there was some smelling came but I am not sure either it was short or not. The battery has already removed before this problem happen and then after I haven't put battery. Just plugged the power.
Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, after studying the images you provided I still cannot say what it is specifically that is the cause of the problem.
Call up Toshiba and ask for a quote for a M/B replacement - get the part number from them and see if you can find it cheaper online.
Good luck. -
I burned a motherboard once like the OP. While trying to upgrade the CPU, the back plate on the keyboard shorted out something on the motherboard.
