When i play games, it's really annoying because I end up accidently hitting the touchpad with my thumb and randomly shooting.
Is there a way to make it so that it doesn't click on touch?

Disable tapping. If you have a Synaptics touchpad then left click on the icon in the system tray and there may be a Tap to Click option on the menu. If not, its Properties ? Device Settings > Settings > Tapping.
I'm sure there's something similar for Alps touchpads.

I have a Synaptics. When I right click the icon in the system tray, I get ''Pointing Device Properties'' which takes me to the mouse settings for scroll speed, acceleration, cursors, etc. and ''Accessories'' and ''Tap to Click'' but '"Tap to Click'' can't be clicked on.
-
Which OS ?
-
win vista ultimate x64
-
Go into Control Panel > Mouse > In the tabs (top), do you see the synaptics logo, accompanied with Device Settings..??
-
yes. i do.
-
Click on that tab, you'll see your touchpad enabled. Click on Settings....The Synaptics Properties window will open.
-
And then what do I do?
-
No this is what I see:
-
Just a standard pointing device..!?
Have you installed the proper drivers for the touchpad..??
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm -
When I download the driver and try to instal it, it says I have a newer version of what I'm trying to instal.
-
Keep the installer of the current driver, then uninstall the current driver (Add/Remove Programs), install the downloaded driver and check if you get the enhanced options. (keep system restore on)
-
Nope. Still getting the same thing.
-
Must be a 64-bit OS compatibility issue. Can't think of anything else.
-
So there's no way I can stop it from being touch to click? Couldn't I remove the driver that makes the touchpad functional?
-
Which notebook have you got..??
My Acer disables the full functionality of the touchpad on pressing Fn+F7.
(Or you could remove the keyboard and pull out the ribbon of the touchpad
)
-
I have a Sager NP2096.
-
Is there a disable touchpad button like this..??
-
Nope, not that I can see of.
-
Keyboard hotkeys ?
Press Fn+F1. -
Fn +F1 puts the laptop to sleep.
-
WT*..?! Ok, if there is a user manual for the notebook, check out the functions of the function keys. Or check out the functions of all the FN+F- keys in succession. There should be an option to disable the touchpad. You can email Sager or Synatics regarding driver support.
Touchpad is click on touch. How can I turn this off?
