After a reboot, the touchpad on my gateway mx6750 (same hardware as mx4xx) is no longer working. I tried to re-install synaptics drivers but touchpad issue is still there. Xp re-install ?

I dont know, I've never owned a gateway, much less ur exact model. But I do know from experience that I accidentaly disabled the touchpad and I was really upset as why it wasnt working. Then I found a keyboard shortcut taht enables the touchpad, and boom it worked, so it was just a matter of it not being on.

Several pple on here had the same problem, and it was the same issue, forgettin to turn it on. Check ur touchpad settings and see if it says anywhere to enable/disable it, as most laptops should have that option to turn it on and off at will.
