Hi. I recently opened up my laptop to clean the dust out. But after I closed it all up the touch pad no longer works. The blue light is still on but the buttons don't work the cursor wont move. It no longer seems to be detected in device manager either. I was wondering what should I connectors or settings I should check in order to get it to work again. Thanks. BTW it is a HP dv6500 if it matters.

Did you disconnect or remove the palmrest plastics? There should be one or two cables that go from the palmrest to the mainboard. The cables should be in close proximity to the touchpad and/or mouse buttons. Look closely at the bottom of the palmrest to find it and also look at the mainboard around the same area, there will be a female connector where the cable plugs in. Reseat this connector and you should be good to go.
