    Hello everybody

I'm new in this forum. To make story short, the touchpad surface of my Toshiba Tecra R850 becomes more and more rough and now I have hard time to use it. My question is does it exist a product that I can "rejuvenate" the touchpad surface ? I also think about a protection film, but this exists only for smartphone or tablet but not for Touchpad.

    Anyway thanks.

Please don't cross post the same question in multiple places.

Remember read and follow the posting rules. Back to the subject:

No there is no such medicine to do that other then replacing your touchpad or if the touchpad is part of the palmrest you have to replace the palmrest. You best option is to look at eBay and see if you can get a used/new touchpad or palmrest w/touchpad to replace your current one.

It's probably not possible to replace this as this is a budget laptop and probably the replacement part would cost an absurd amount.. OP, either use a mouse or live with this..

Maybe but it will be up to the OP to decide what cost they can spend. I seen touchpad that aren't that expensive so unless one can tell me the cost I will leave that up to the OP to decide.

Tecra R850 is not a budget laptop. This is the reason why I'm little disappointed about the laptop because the touchpad surface is not durable. Now I'm looking the possibility to coat the touchpad with Teflon.

Get a protection film, any film designed for a touch screen should work fine, just cut to size. Make sure you get the surface of the touchpad as smooth as you can, use a very fine sand paper if you must, and tape something over your keyboard to keep the dust out of it. Then clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely and then apply the protection film.

You can even try a vinyl decal patch and see if that works for you and make it look decent as well (again, have to cut to size). You can get a vinyl sticker sample from Amazon, something like this: Amazon.com: Matte Flat Black Vinyl Wrap Sticker Decal Film Sheet - 4"X8" Sample: Automotive
