Hi guys,
So I'm just got a 1tb external hdd from my friend, and would like to copy everything on my old one to the new one (around 300gb worth of stuff) so that I can leave the old one for the family to use. What is the best way to do this?
I was thinking about connecting both hard drives to my desktop through eSATA and then just copy pasting. Would that work well?
Thanks

Yes, that will work fine.
Its exactly what I do, their is software which does it, but I do not know of any free ones.

CTRL A on your 300GB of files, then CTRL C and then CTRL V in your 1TB hard drive

Try to use Roadkill Unstoppable Coppier
The disadvantages of using the traditional Ctrl C and Ctrl V methods are:
1) System is prone to freezing and
2) You wont be able to check if all the files have been coppied 100% succesfully
Download from here:
http://www.roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=29
Program is free and the advantage of using Roadkill program is, u can check that all files are coppied 100%. -
yes , it is the correct way to transfer the data from one hard drive to another hard drive.
Transfer data to new external hd from old one?
