Hi Guys I'm hoping someone can help me with advice on this one please.
I have a Sony Vaio VPCZ1 laptop (os win7 ultimate) which is located in it's docking station whilst I am at home.
The docking station has two video outputs on the back of it VGA & DVI-D
I have been using dual monitors (The laptop Monitor & A HP L2245wg monitor) for years and this works perfectly. The HP L2245WG is connected via a DVI-D cable from the docking station.
My problem is that I have tried to now connect another monitor (HP2009v) using a VGA cable and both external monitors go off. If I take out one of the cables then one of the external monitors comes back on.
It seems to me that I can't have both the DVI-D and VGA outputs working at the same time and wondered is there a workaround for this as I really do have the need for triple monitiors.
I am very grateful for any advice or solutions anyone can offer me. Many thanks
Paul

Your laptop only has one output, just more than one output method.
You need to get a multi monitor adapter.
Something like the Matrox units, or probably easiest is a USB monitor adapter. -
Many thanks for the reply I will look at one of those options now
Thanks again -
can i just ask on the Matrox unit would I need the digital one or the analogue version. All I use my laptop for is business word excel ect and the usual internet browsing ect..
Many thanks -
depends on the monitors you are hooking up to. VGA input or HDMI/DVI
-
ok thanks - I have both one with just VGA and the other has both VGA & DVI-D
I assume that going with the digital option will give me all more flexibilty if i happen to upgrade my monitors in the future?
Thanks again -

Yeah digital is better, takes digital input and has digital output.
I think just to add a monitor though the usb adapter is better.
The matrox just links many monitors together as one, great for gaming and 3d apps but maybe not so great for office work where you have to use software to define a grid of each monitor so when you full screen it wont full screen across multiple monitors.
My highest recommendation goes to this product, for both the quality and price.
