My mom's laptop has been having trouble with the screen for a while. Whenever it is moved quickly or shaken in any way, the screen goes blank an we have to restart the pc. Could this be some connection coming lose?

Probably, the wires connection get loose either in the LCD panel or a mainboard, the physical problem will make us trouble. If you need it be fixed, bring it to your dealer to take care of it.
