Hey guys, Im getting an XPS M140 in the next few days and I wanted to know what you guys thought about the TrueLife. I hear that most people really like it, I just wanted to know if the glossy screen scratches easily? That is the only thing that I am really worried about. Thanks.

It appears to scratch as easily as matte finished screens. The screen picture quality is very nice but that is not a priority for me.

    Enjoy your new machine.

I agree. It will scratch just as easy as the matte finish but because of it's higher contrast, the scratch will show more prominently.

I think glossy screens will scratch easier because of the speacial coating on the screen. Sometimes I put a cover b/t my screen and keyboard if I am going to be traveling or something like that- try to aviod the keys rubbing a scratch into my screen.

Also, you have to be very careful with what you clean your glossy screen with. Paper towels can etch your screen. Chemicals can damage the coating of the screen. I use pixelclean.

You should also check out www.ShaggyMac.com their products are really nice - the advertising is no lie. Thats what I got for my new Asus V6j, and they work wonders. Check it out.

I just ordered the m140 last week with the True life screen. I am expecting it to be delivered Friday, I will update with a comparison over my regular screen laptop. However, I will NOT attempt to scratch it to report on how easily it does/does not scratch.....

Ok, the results are in, the True Life screen does appear to be brighter/crisper than a normal lappy screen. Not to mention 'warm up' time seems non-existent. After coming out of hibernation, my last one was dim for about 15 seconds or so. I must say colors do seem brighter and clearer.

In other words, definitely worth the $30 or so.. imo

I wonder if you use clear tape to clean the finger prints and dust stick on your screen. I got the laptop M140 for my friend just like the 1 of xbox360dellxpsm140guy, i'm still waiting for it on May 18 ( it took so long , may be out of parts) . I hate to pay the extra tax on my dell, next time i just order to my cousin in oklahoma and get it whenever i have time.
